The skyhawk was the primary Navy and Marines light attack plane in the 50’s and 60’s. Its small wingspan eliminated the need for a folding wing, thus lightening the aircraft and increasing its payload to over 4 tons. It was used throughout the Vietnam war and was noted for accuracy against ground targets.
