The UC-35 is a long-range, medium-lift aircraft that will replace the aging CT-39 Sabreliners for operational support airlift capability to the Marine Corps. Derived from the Cessna Citation, the Marine’s version is designated UC-35D Encore. The UC-35 Cessna Citation is a state-of-the-art twin turbofan commercial aircraft certified by the FAA and provides numerous improvements over the earlier UC-35A Ultra that include an enhanced ground proximity warning system and enhanced communications and navigational equipment. Furthermore, the Encore is quieter with more fuel efficient engines having greater thrust; has a more-rugged landing gear; improved anti-icing system; increased payload; more seated headroom; and an estimated 15 percent lower maintenance cost. The US Army has the UC-35B version.
