FA-18 Hornet was to become the most versatile strike fighter in US Navy history, and perhaps the most important single type in service today. The FA-18s amazing success lies in sound aerodynamic design, superb high performance and great agility along with the excellent Hughes AN/APG-65 multi-mode pulse-Doppler radar. This was developed specifically for the FA-18, but has since come to be regarded as one of the best fighter radars in service today. The US Marine Corps also operate the FA-18.
