F-4 Phantom was arguably the world’s most effective multi-role fighter in the 1960s. It has enjoyed enormous staying power and remains in service in modest numbers. The design of the F-4 is characterized by its two-seat, twin-engine configuration, upturned wingtips, anthedral tail plane and down turned nose. It spent much of its service as a multi-role fighter for air-to-air combat and close support/interdiction missions.
