The MH-53J Pave Low III is one of the CH-53 Sea Stallion variants. It is a heavy-lift transport helicopter that can accommodate two pilots, a crew chief, 37 troops, or 24 stretchers. Sikorsky’s big lifter first flew in 1964 and was quickly adopted by the US Marine Corps as its heavy assault transport. The MH-53J is the USAF’s special operations versions, fitted with in-flight refueling, night vision equipment and terrain following radar and is powered by two T64-GE-7A’s, each rated to 2935 kW (3936 shp).
