T-2 Buckeye is another stalwart of the training program having originally entered service in 1959. The T-2C ultimately became the most numerous version of the Buckeye with a total of 231 aircraft being delivered to Naval Air Training Command by April 1969. This model is a two-seat training aircraft, configured with a tandem cockpit and arrester hook gear for carrier deck operations. Wingtip fuel tanks are normally fitted and wing pylons allow for up to 640 lb (290 kg) of bombs or rockets to be carried.
