In April 1975 the USN ordered production of the T-34C Turbo Mentor after an extended development program. The Turbo Mentor has been referred to as the ‘Tormentor’ since its earliest days in US Navy service and is still the first aircraft encountered by prospective naval pilots. Successive contracts brought the total produced to 352 by April 1984, of which 19 were built as attrition replacements, with the final deliveries in April 1990.
