The T-38 Talon is the USAF's standard advanced jet trainer. The Talon is unique in being a trainer designed for routine flight at supersonic speed. The T-38 is a conventional twin-engine jet trainer, a cantilevered low-wing monoplane with extremely small, sharp-edged wings, light-weight airframe, and a slender, area-ruled fuselage. It is able to carry two people to maximum weight of 250 lb (113 kg) each and up to 600 lb (272 kg) in a centerline external travel pod.
