The 1942 Waco CG-4A was the most widely used transport and assault glider of the USAAF. There were 13,909 of these gliders constructed by a consortium of sixteen manufacturers during of the war. The CG-4A became the standard glider of the American Air Force, and many of them were also supplied to the RAF, who called them the Hadrian. The Waco also built in different versions, but none of met with the same success.
